SCoR Seeks Executive Director
Summary The Sustainability Center of the Rockies (SCOR) in Carbondale, Colo. seeks its first executive director to lead the effort to redevelop a former elementary school into a green community center, create a dedicated wing for environmental tenants, and use the project as a springboard for inspiring other green projects throughout the Roaring Fork Valley.
Introduction to SCOR SCOR’s mission is to transform the Roaring Fork Valley’s built environment into a model of resource-efficient living. SCoR partners with other nonprofits, for-profits and local governments to create and inspire green projects that demonstrate and educate through cutting-edge techniques and technologies.
SCOR’s first project, already under way, is to partner with a local community development corporation in redeveloping a former elementary school into the Carbondale Community Center (C3); SCOR’s role is to advocate, and raise funding, for the greenest possible design. In addition, SCOR is seeking to rally local environmental nonprofits (and some for-profits) in establishing their own wing in the center that will serve as the hub for environmental efforts in the region, facilitate collaboration among tenants, and feature a sustainability learning center for students and the general public.
